    Irish Independent In The Beginning

In the Beginning was my first novel, published in 1997.

It is the story of a woman whose marriage – and whose life – falls apart after twenty years. The main character, Rose, struggles to keep her family together in the face of devastating emotional and financial losses.

What interested me most as a writer was the woman’s resilience, is the interplay of family relationships and the importance of friendship. These are themes to which I keep being drawn in my fiction.

In the Beginning was a major international success.

It was published in Italian, Danish, Dutch, German, Portuguese, Albanian, Swedish and Polish.
